THE OFFICIAL MONK'S WALK SCHOOL LIBRARY WEBSITE
As part of community literacy projects we have recently launched our 1 Book for Welwyn Hatfield which links with a whole of different organisations both local and national. The idea is to get as many people reading as possible! Overall 20 primary schools are taking part this year which is fantastic. To find out more visit www.readingpartners.org.uk
Every year on World Book Day we launch a whole of different things. We link our House event into the day and run two big competitions. The first is our reading event, which this year challenges students to try and read a million words, and the other is our short story competition. On the day itself we also get a number of students to come into the library and spend a whole day collaboratively writing a story.
Split into different groups students have to go through the whole process of planning, writing and editing their story whilst learning to work collaboratively in their groups. It's certainly a special day and this year was no different!
Make sure you come to the library to pick up your loyalty card. Borrow and read 10 books and receive a commendation!
Monk's Walk School is working with the Welwyn and Hatfield Times to raise reading in the whole community!
